Vallformosa places a Catalan Grand Reserve cava as the official beverage at a highly relevant institutional function in Cuba.

The Vallformosa 150 Gran Reserva cava will this Tuesday be served at the official celebratory function of the 500th anniversary of the founding of the city of Havana in Cuba, an institutional act that will be attended by various relevant personalities. This cava is a special limited edition with symbolic elements of Havana, such as the sculpture of the Giraldilla vane adorning the Castle of the Royal Force in the Cuban capital or a large number 500 to commemorate this milestone.

The agreement to make Vallformosa 150 Gran Reserva the official wine of the commemoration was reached during the past edition of the Hostelcuba fair held last May at Havana’s Pabexpo trade fair site. When the Cuban leaders visited the Vallformosa stand at Hostelcuba, they were seduced by the new Vallformosa model and the history of its Mistinguett cavas “as a symbol of women who every day fight to make their dreams come true, like the celebrated Jeanne Florentine Bourgeois (1875-1956), better known by her artistic name Mistinguett. She was a Fench singer, actress and showgirl whose boldness, effort and perseverance led her to become the most important French showgirl of all time. According to Josep Graells, President of Vallformosa, who will attend the official ceremonies of the Havana anniversary, “Mistinguett’s story is a good fit with that of the women of the Revolution”.

Vallformosa 150 Gran Reserva is a Brut cava made from Xarel·lo grapes growing on old vines planted more than 40 years ago in the Penedès region. It has undergone a minimum of 30 months’ aging in the bottle. The process, from harvest to disgorging, is a manual one. It is a highly gastronomic wine with considerable complexity, with citrus, floral and white fruit notes. The attendees at the function will enjoy a cava with a smooth attack and fine, well-integrated bubbles. It also has good acidity, providing longevity in terms of aromas, freshness and flavours that persist over time. Vallformosa 150 Gran Reserva is presented in a special bottle limited to 7,000 hand-numbered units.
